What is Positive Reinforcement & Successive Approximation?
Positive Reinforcement
Positive reinforcement in dog training is a type of reward-based training that focuses on reinforcing desired behaviors by giving rewards or treats when the dog performs correctly. This type of training encourages repetition and builds trust between the trainer and pup, as well as helping to build an emotional bond between them. Positive reinforcement can also help prevent behavioral problems from developing.
Successive Approximation
Successive approximation in dog training is a method of teaching new behaviors by breaking them down into small, achievable steps. I begin with an approximation of the desired behavior and give rewards to your dog for each correct step taken towards achieving the goal. This process is repeated until the desired behavior has been achieved.
